Encaustic is a mixture of beeswax and damar resin that is transformed with heat into a liquid state and then applied in layers onto wooden panels. I incorporate pigments, gold leaf, pieces of paintings, and transfers of my drawings and other images into the wax.   When it hardens, the wax traps light in the translucence of its layers creating a luminosity that becomes integral to the piece.  Click on any piece below to enlarge.
